This Christmas we had Aaron with us for two weeks! He drove into town just as the girls were getting the flu, and we spent the next four days quarantined at home, but we were able to play school and hang out in jammies. It was a bummer to miss family dinner on Sunday but after spending two hours in the InstaCare we were ready to head home. The girls worked on making crayon art projects for their teachers and I was able to deliver them to the school on the last day before the break.
Aaron taught the girls about the flu virus and what to do to protect against it and help their bodies fight it.
Since Sophia loves to help in the kitchen she helped Aaron make some of the world's best sugar cookies. Then we decorated them!
Games were really popular this trip. The girls got quite a few for Christmas and of course we had to try them all out. We played Frozen Trouble and Monopoly Jr. and Crossing the Plains multiple times. Sophia enjoys winning and has a hard time when she looses but Aaron was able to calm her down and help her realize that playing the game is more fun than whether or not you win.
Finally the girls began to feel better and for the rest of the holiday were their normal, happy selves! Normal, happy and creative selves.... soon Debbie's Diner was born. On Saturday, they decided to cook breakfast for us. They seated us and handed out homemade menus, wore aprons to take our orders and cooked and served our breakfast of pancakes. They even came up with a commercial jingle! On Sunday, after church, Aaron ordered Raman, eggs and hot dogs and we ate the delicious lunch prepared and served by the girls. That night we were able to go to family dinner at Mom's house, and play a game with Adam and Hillary.
As the trip began to wind down the girls decided they wanted their hair cut and Aaron graciously volunteered to give it a try... It turned out amazing! They both got cute bobs and it cost absolutely nothing! We also went to look at rings at the jewelry store and began talking with the girls about the idea of us getting married. They both seem excited about it!
We also sneaked in a couple dates before Aaron headed back home. We dropped the girls off with grandma and went out with Adam and Hillary for a fine meal at the Indian Oven. Then on our last night together we took the girls to HuHot, put them to bed at grandma's and went to see the Maze Runner since we had both read the novel.
It is always hard to say goodbye, but we have shared many memories and look forward to many more wonderful memories to come.
