Fireworks!!

Perhaps my favorite day of the year. . . though I'm not exactly sure why I look forward to it with such excitement. It might have something to do with the consistency of it all. Every year, for as long as I can remember, my family has watched fireworks on the grassy corner of 10th North & 8th East in Logan. My mom goes up early and sets out blankets and then at dusk everyone starts to gather. Cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews know that they are all welcome to come and join; to eat carmel corn and licorice; to light sparklers and smoke bombs; to talk and to laugh. No matter what changes life brings, new relationships and new houses, new jobs and new babies, there will always be family and together we will celebrate the freedom of living in this grand country.
