Happy Mother's Day!
OK, I win! I have the best kids! Evelyn and Sophie have spent days making cards, paper airplanes and notes. I also got tootsie pop butterflies, a watermelon jolly rancher, a butterscotch candy and breakfast in bed! Since Evelyn is able to make toast and yogurt independently that is what was served. I'm in love!!
Treehouse Museum
We met my friend Christine and her son O for an afternoon at the Treehouse Museum! The kids had a great time!
We began the adventure with a reader's theater in which Evelyn was selected to play the part of the Baby Owl in the story Why Mosquitos Buzz in People's Ears.
Evelyn was so brave when it was her part; she had to fall out of the nest!

We continued to explore the children's museum and there was so much to see and do!

Memorial Day Weekend 2012
We drove down to American Fork and Provo for the long weekend.
Whenever we come down to stay with Emily and Russell, Sophia has to dress up in Aunt Emily's shoes and jewelry!
We enjoyed the beautiful weather with a barbecue and chats outside. Sometimes I think Evelyn believes she is an adult, she loves to be included in the conversations.
While the girls were with their dad, I took a long drive up near the Draper Temple. It was windy and overcast and I was thinking about how, in Moby Dick, when Ishmael feels like "deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off -- then, I account it high time to get to the sea."
I felt like knocking people's hats off that night, I felt like sailing off into the sea - - - But since there is no sea in Utah I decided to just roll down the windows and turn up the music and sit. It was while I was sitting that I looked out over the valley and saw the sun come through the grey clouds and shine down on the earth below. I realized that life will move forward and things will all work out, somehow.
Sophia loves to sit quietly and "read" stories - especially to her stuffed animals
